This is for my daily driver. I do 50 mile round trip to work daily. I have had this Ranger for a year & the Cherokee for 2 months.

I have an '89 Ranger 4x4 & a '97 Cherokee Sport
Both are automatic, 6 cyl, PT 4wd, high miles (213 on Ranger, 238 on Cherokee).
Ranger tires are 50% & Cherokee is -25%
Both have cracked windshields, but Cherokee is leaking.
Ranger might need oil pump (2.9L). After x-way runs, the needle bounces at idle.
Cherokee needs a Fan resistor.
Both are solid, but the Ranger has more rust underneath.
Cherokee is all original, but the Ranger has been rebuilt before I got it.

I expect some bias here, but I will post the same info on jeepz.com to get the other sides opinion.

Keep em both. The Cherokee can be used as a daily driver, the Ranger to haul stuff. Which one do YOU want to keep? Our opinions are fine but we don't have to live with the result, you do.

Which one do you like to drive and maintain? Which one is worth more if sold. Prolly the Jeep. Both have specialties. Do you use the Ranger for lugging stuff?

Damn dude, that is a tough choice. I think I would have to keep them both. It's always good to have a backup vehicle when you're driving high mileage trucks IMO. I like them both!

^ this

if you are going to rely on something that old with that many miles you need a back up.

I voted the jeep, hate to say it! Looks to be in better shape, and you can swap the wheels ant tires over if the ranger has more tread, same bolt pattern.

Ranger wheels will fit on Cherokee, but Jeep ones can't fit the Ranger (lock-outs).

I like them both, but the Jeep is more comfortable. I am just a Ford guy. Never owned a Jeep or anything else in a long time. Only had Ford trucks though. :icon_thumby:
Looking for outside opinions considering others experiences, aftermarket, ect.

Dude.....Sounds like they both need work....get something else. I have a Ranger, 2 Jeeps and a Suzuki Sammy. They all run and need nothing....lol.

Not everybody is as lucky as you.Why don't you trade one of yours for his two?

Difficult choice, but the deciding factor for me would be the transmission. The Jeep transmission will probably outlast the a4ld. Now if you'll excuse me I'll go and hang my head in shame.

I would trade them both for a 4x4 supercab ranger. I hated the regular cab ranger I had just for the fact that the seats could not recline AT ALL!
