need some tranny help

i have a 88 ranger 2.9 5 speed with a mitsh... tranny what tranny should i put in when this one goes? or is this a good tranny. i use my truck as a daily driver and a weekend wheeler and hall hevy loads,so what should i go with..

m5od-r1. any tranny from behind a 2.9 or 4.0 will bolt up. the mitsu tranny is weak. by your description of how you use it, it will fail eventually.

what about the t-case ,is it a through in and go?

Yes, the T-case will bolt to the M5OD.
