Took it to the dealer MAP needs replacing. Had K+N filter I think that's what screwed it up.

MAP vs MAF

Don't confuse the MAF (mass air flow) sensor and the MAP (ambient air pressure) sensor. These are two different sensors. A K-N filter will have no effect on a MAP. The MAP (in my Ranger) is located on the firewall above the engine behind a small cover plate. Very easy to replace and not too expensive. The MAF is located in the air intake downstream of the air filter.
Hope this helps.

The oil used with a K&N has been known to foul MAF sensors...if there is too much used, that is.

ive been told when you buy a k&n that you need to let it dry in the open air when you get it. ok now macarchie youve got map sensor all wrong its a manifold absloute pressure sensor and a vehicle will have either a maf or a map not both im pretty sure that our trucks have a maf. now ambient air pressure means outside air pressure. im not tryin to dog ya just tryin to set everything right

Ah man I didn't let mine air out I just threw it in there, but since then I have cleaned the MAF again, stupid instructions need to include that little tid bit of info.

yea they really should when i got last one i didnt et it air out and it was drippin with oil and i was stupid and jus threw it in and it destroyed my maf so i learned my lesson

Is not in the filter box. It is written in the cleaner and oil kit box.

i never saw anything that said it needed to airout before instaltion but that was about 3 years ago they could have changed it now

to answer your question im pretty sure they said maf and they make a special cleaner for the sensor it should be right next to the airbox.

Mine was pretty dry when I put it in the truck, my honda also has one and I always touch it after cleaning it before installing it to make sure its not to wet otherwise it gums up my TB. So I did check it but they really need to put that in the original instructions, most people don't buy the recharge kits right away so they don't know anything about it.
