Need some help deciding

I am looking into getting another truck to make a trail/rock/mud truck out of but i was wondering what everyone thought. How well do you think a 1984-1988 Ranger regular cab with a 2.9 5 speed and a 3 inch body lift(cause they are cheep) with 33's will do for general (fun)
also do you think that 150 to $300 is a reasonable price range for a standard1986 4x4 ranger that wont run.

Old running or not running Rangers don't get much lower then 500 in CO

i bought my 88 for 500 with bodylift and new tires jsut cause the guy was stupid and didnt relize that u could sell the tires for 2000
