Hey all, new to this forum and looking for some expert advice!

I have a 96 Ford Ranger (auto transmission, 4x4 electronic, 4 liter 6 cylinder). I am having a little bit of trouble with the tranny. It slips getting into second and third. It also feels as if I am pressing pretty hard on the accelerator, and am not getting anywhere. I inherited the truck from my father, and it hasn't gotten any worse since I've gotten it. It is just pretty frustrating when I am pressing on the gas and it feels as if I'm not getting anywhere fast. Does this sound like a rebuild job to you guys? Since I have had the truck, It has not had a transmission fluid flush or transmission filter change. Is this something that you feel will help? Please give me some good advice! Thanks in advance!

Classic example of blown valvebody gaskets. Don't for get to replace the EPC solenoid too.

Bent Bolt-

thanks for the reply! how much do you think this would run to fix? And how difficult of a fix is it? Thanks again for the reply!

It won't help your problem, but I recommend that you do it anyway, and at least every 30k miles from now on, as it is good preventive maintenance.
