I'm sick and tired of things growing legs and walking away around here. It doesn't seem to matter how much you're around either.

To date the things I know of that have been stolen are:

130 concrete block

~ 1 cord of firewood

Misc. small truck parts

A few fair sized landscape rocks (stuff that two or three people could grab)

9 traffic cones

Misc scrap metal (mostly steel and aluminum)

4 truck axles

2' step ladder (stolen within the last four days)

:annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

It doesn't seem to matter that I have gates up either. So I'm looking for some recommendations on security cameras in hopes of getting some of these jokers on film. At least two cameras would need to be wireless as I want to put them down towards the end of the property (~2-300 yards max from the house). I think I'd like something that I could pipe into a computer setup instead of trying to use a VCR system. And I would rather spend a couple hundred instead of a couple thousand on the system if possible (I have a computer that I can dedicate to a security system, it just needs a monitor and hard drive right now).

Hopefully some of ya'll can help....

geez man, you're having some bad luck with these bastards.

you need to take a week off work and camp out in the woods near your house and take care of these idiots. i have a spare ghillie suit you can borrow if you want.

If I could afford to take a week or two off of work and hunt them, I would. I have a good set of camos and I know how to play the hide and seek game. I'm about to start playing dirty and re-visiting my traps and snares manual....

Not mine but the owner of another forum I'm on has these around his house:

Panasonic BLC131A

IMO, pretty cheap considering the quality:

Yea, that's some guy that was poking around his house when no one was home. He ended up tripping an audible alarm so he left.

IIRC, the camera is indoor-only though but if you have a good spot to put it in, you can still use it to see outside.

Sometimes my pubic hair grows legs and walks around the bathroom and other places as my wife says....lol

I have 4 cameras front and rear and on both sides of the home site. They are night vision and are in color as well. I have a DVD recorder so you can go back and view what took place while you are away. I have a monitor that you can also buy in the kit. I can see what happens with my laptop on the road as well. I bought my setup from Compusa. It was a great price and I have had it for 5 years now without any propblems what so ever. Here is a link to the camers that I use. I can either use it as a wireless unit as I did earlier, but I went ahead and ran cable in the attic and dropped it to where I wanted to place the recording unit. I have wireless setups for my property that I to change out the 9v batteries every other month. They record great as well.
Ebay has some nice units as well up for auction or buy it now. I did a set up for one of my buddies (wireless since he lives in a condo). He bought it on Ebay for around $300.00 (no monitor). He loves it. He can see what goes on when he is away or at work by his laptop.

OOOPs, sorry!! I forgot to mention...all of mine are indoor/outdoor. The best way to go...weatherproof!!!

I agree that's the best way to go, but my wallet doesn't like it.

Did you check out the link I gave you above or look at Ebay? Sam's Club has them too. I was over there last week and I saw a few but did really look at them price wise since I already have a setup. You can get a nice setup for under $400. It is worth the price to calm your fears. I know one thing, I live in the woods and I do not like scums who try to sneak up on your home to see what you have in the yard or garage. When they see the signs posted around the property they leave. I have a wirless alarm in the garage that alerts us if somebody is walking into the garage when we have it open for any reason. Only people we know will come on in and they usually call us first so I won't walk around with one of my rifles or pistols if we see somebody closing in on the house.....lol. But, when we are away I fell good about not having to worry about the place. And of course...if somebody is going to brak in and steal something thay are going to do it and then run. I have several alram systems for the houses and the property and I sleep better knowing that. That's worth spending money on!!!

I've taken to tightly stringing barbed wire shin high

when I'm in a bad mood I smear nasty stuff on the wire
in strategic locations.

I also don't cut my grass.

a friend has a hidden driveway barrier

it's a length of steel fence post with a 80d spike welded through it
every 3"
at either end it's set through another larger piece of pipe that it "nests"
into but allows it to rotate just more than 120degrees

It is also "locked" with a long hasp padlock into it's "set position"
The set position is with the pikes 30degrees off of vertical facing out
so someone driving over it will have atleast two 3/8" hole in each tire

But to get to it they have to get past the hooked (but not locked)
gate that wears a "No Tresspassing" sign

If they open the gate and drive through anyway they'll never see those 5" long
tire eating spikes in the tall grass.

a surveilance camera to record their frustration? Priceless!!!

Only thing wrong with that is it is against the law to do what you say you have done. I have a lot of cop and US Federal friends and thay told me not to do anything like that. It is a federal crime to do so if you are caught. But, you need to be more worried about the wrong people who you piss off doing this as well. They may just come back to blow up your place or hunt you down. There are some really sick people in our world nowadays as you know. So, I would rather have the signs posted and the video cameraa aeound. If they get into my house when we are home I have the right to take their lives.

How about a large mean dog?

Hmmmm, NO. I find the small sneeky Pugs to be better. They are so silent but deadly. Meet my Pug. 'Pug Vader' the defender of all peeps in the world!!!
