Need schooled on da “Flareside” rangers yo!

Believe what you want. Splash was a trim package. And while all Splashes may have had flareside beds, not all flareside Rangers were Splashes. Ford's terminology for that bed style is flareside. You're welcome to talk to Ford about changing the terminology.
I'm on the phone with them now, quit bothering me while I do grown-up stuff.

to be fair, the "flare side" Ranger wasn't an option for the Ranger until a few years after the Splash debuted

I wonder IF one of these beds would work.

Exactly, Yea this kinda stuff!!! I need an excuse to build a SBF 351 based stroker to a 383 (poor mans stroker). I have since located two flare side trucks w/ blown engines and will hopefully look at them this weekend, unless they are both Craigs List & FB scams.... Last two I looked at had minor to major damage to every freakin body panel. Hope these are better.

Im also looking to teach my kiddo how to paint too. Need a decent body I can scuff and spray rather quickly, doesn't have to be perfect, just trying to enjoy the hobby and pass it on...

@kansastj If you listened to old school rap in your younger years... you're still a whipper snapper. Good to see you passing down to the kids... and sounds like a cool project.

Did i get out of this thread that @don4331 is closing in on this very flareside street truck project? Sneaky... Very sneaky.

This didn't really belong in the mini truck forum... so I put it in the body/paint forum.

And btw... it is and always will be a Ranger Flareside.

Carry on...

that's cool.
BUT
I will forever and always call it a "splash bed" and everyone on the planet will know exactly what I'm talking about. Whereas IF I just say "flareside" I have to specify "Ranger or F-150".
carry on . . .

My 3 year old daughter liked to nap in the splash bed...yes... at one point I had a water bed.

I loved my waterbed. Always the best sleep.

I loved my waterbed too, but the better half did NOT when she was 9 months pregnant...

I wished I could take credit, but

there is also

Mine is not a Splash. It's an Edge with flaresides. It's an option on the XLT too

I had a 1997 XLT flair side for 9 years. I added splash stirpes and some other custom parts.
