Need ScangaugeII info

A few quick questions if anyone has used a scanguageII,

Are they trust worthy?
How accurate are they?
Where does it get the water temperature reading from?
And does yours, if you have one, cut off on cold days randomly?

I bought one a while back to check codes and monitor certain processes, and I want more info. Thanks in advance.

I tried using one but to no avail... Apparently Ford decided to lock my computer to any scan tool. So basically I have to take it to a shop or buy a way more expensive code reader.
