They both have two wiresThey are new
Youll need to figure out which wire goes to the gauge, and ground it out against something metal to see if the gauge pegs on "H".How do you said to see if the gauge will move
Do you have to take off the cluster to find the wireYoull need to figure out which wire goes to the gauge, and ground it out against something metal to see if the gauge pegs on "H".
How can you tell you got a bad gaugeNo, removal of the guage cluster is not necessary to ground it at the sender. Purchase a Haynes or Chilton manual and look in the wiring diagrams for which wire you need to ground.
If the guage does not move then removal of the guage cluster will be necessary to test for a bad wire leading to the guage.
With key onIf you ground the guage at the back of the guage cluster and it does not move the guage is bad.
