need help with trans

so my automatic trans started slamming into drive and into reverse one day but was shifting fine. than the next day it would not shift out of first gear but i could manually shift through first and second i thought maybe i could change the vacuum modulator and be fine especially because the rubber hose running to it had a big dry rot slit down the center of it but fixing that did nothing my fluid level is perfect the color is perfect i hooked up a computer to it and it did not read anything having to do with the trans but it was not slamming into gear and it was shifting through every gear with minimum slippage. than at the end of the day it was stuck in third gear and it wont come out and wont go into reverse is this a blown trans?

I had this happen to me. Turned out to be the shift cable was going in my situation.

really? any funny noises at all. i would get some grinding noises in reverse if i got on it really quick but all these problems happened really quick in like a two week period or less and the trans was not showing any signs of weakness before this how did you know and whats involved
