need help with gear shift reading wrong

I had this problem, How I fixed it. First thing i had to do was lay down under the dash and find where the cable connects to the shifter arm. at that point you should see that there are a couple small screws/bolts. all I had to do was tighten those up and it made a hundered % diff.

Also I have heard that the shift colume have bearings in it that sometimes wear out and could cause sim problem,

If that does not turn out to be the problem, there is a plastic clip near the trans end of the selector cable that likes to break, causing the same result. Somewhere on TRS, I believe it's in the tech section, are instructions on how to repair it.

How far off is it? Most Fords have an adjuster wheel that can compensate for the cable stretching a little. If it is showing R when it is in park, for example, just take the panel above the floormat off (below the steering wheel) driver's side and there is an adjuster behind there- you should be able to turn it with your fingers and set it back right. If it is off big time there may be another issue with it.
