A friend of mine just helped me change my worn out tie rod ends on my mazda B4000 4x4 1998. Suddenly the power steering pump is sqeeling horribly when the wheel is turned. We didnt touch any thing in that area or somehow disconnect any lines, does anyone have any idea what we managed to do? I am decently mechanicaly inclined and he is even more so, but hes stumped and so am I. I needed to drive this truck to work tonight. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What ranger doesn't have a noisy power steering pump?

Both of my Rangers were noisy...

It's a Ford thing.

Fluid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It won't hurt it to drive it if it's not the fluid because then you need a new pump.

Did you fill it up with power steering fluid at any point? If you did get that crap outta there and put in some ATF. PS fluid is one reason people complain about the noisy Ford pumps.

Strangely enough it stopped as soon as I got it aligned today. I have no idea what to make of it, but it did stop. Thanks for the responses!

Anytime the steering has to work harder it will make more noise. You probably had the alignment out pretty bad and it caused extra force to turn the wheels because they were in a bit of a bind. Glad U got it straightened out.
