Need help ID'ing part

never seen this distributor on any ranger except mine.

just about fed up with this truck, about ready to duraspark it even thou i'll never be able renew my registration here.

That is a tfi dizzy. All of the advancing/retarding of the timing is controlled by the computer based on inputs from sensors on the engine.

also if anyone has an extra duraspark distributor (non bosch single vac)
in working order or to be used as a core for a trade in. please let me know

I believe all '83-'86 Ford 2.8L were TFI equipped originally from the factory. I have several wiring and vacuum line factory manuals from those years. There is no mention of duraspark on the 2.8L. According to the manuals, only the 2.0L and 2.3L were duraspark.

My '83 was bought new and still has the TFI. After gone through several TFI modules over the years....it will be relocated to somewhere else off the distributor.

Theres a reason why the tfi miguel is mounted to the dizzy. It gets hot on its own and uses the dizzy as a heat sync in addition to the heat paste.
