Looking for new lock switches. Not new to me, but new new. I found window switches at Rockauto, but I can't find lock switches anywhere. Anyone else know where to find them?

Almost but not quite.

The switches themselves are removable from the base and serviced separately. My bases are ok, but due to being junk yard units and having been exposed to the elements my switches are of questionable quality (as verified by ohm meter).

EDIT: Ford base number seems to be 14017

I searched several parts websites including a general internet search for both Rangers and BIIs and only come up with power window switches...odd.

I guess no one ever thought that someone might also want a power lock switch someday. The people that make those decisions are geniuses. :icon_confused:

But that's not to say they aren't out there somewhere!

Yeah, I did the same thing to similar results. That's why I came here hoping someone else had more success and could point me in the right direction.

I'm almost thinking that they were available at one point, didn't sell well due to a low failure rate, and were thus pretty much discontinued by everyone.

i know this'll cost you an arm & a leg, but check the dealer?

It would probably have to be NOS that someone stashed away somewhere if it was out there in some dealer's inventory. Ford generally doesn't make replacement parts once the vehicle gets about 10 years old.

Actually, it probably won't cost me as much as you think, dealer employee and all. I do plan to check there monday.

But that is what I'm afraid of. Although if he finds that there are like 5 or 6 of these things left in the obsolete warehouse you can bet I'm buying all of them.

I knew you were a mechanic, but I forgot that you worked at a Ford dealer.

You might get lucky. Maybe even if your dealer doesn't have one, maybe another one does have one just sitting on the shelf somewhere.

Well I found 5 (allegedly) NOS switches and I'm gonna buy them all I think. The only problem is that they are scattered all over the country.

That's cool and amazing that there happened to be a part that has been obsolete for over 10 years now. What's more amazing is that you said: "...he finds that there are like 5 or 6 of these things left in the obsolete warehouse you can bet I'm buying all of them", and there happened to be five of them. It's like your psychic or something!

Yeah. I happened to be standing at the counter when he made the call, and the guy on the other side said that the box was just a "little" dusty.

That was like the 2nd place that I looked. They don't appear to have the ones I need.
