need help finding the proper transmission/transfer case

Hello,

I have a 1991 ford ranger currently with the 2.9L motor the a4ld transmission and it has caused me nothing but grief.

I have a 302 out of a 1979 mercury marquis and would like to know what full size ford truck transmission and transfer case will bolt right up to it or need only mild modifications. I'd like to stay away from the electronics as much as possible but am opened to hearing what others have put together in the past. The truck is already 4x4 and suspension lifted 2 inch over factory any info would be greatly appreciated.

The tranny from a '97 up to 03[?] f-150 with the 4.2l v-6 is said to be the best for fitment of the shifter and it bolts to the 302.
