need help bad!

doesnt over head but there was hardly and coolant in the raidator... i checked plugs and they were yellow and gapped they to about .044 it its starting to do it in the lower gears now too... in 2nd when you get close to where you would have to shift... i dont know what the hell it is... you have to go about 250 yards before it starts to do it...

Ok now from experiance with misses i can add this...
Start ruling things out becuase a miss and vacum leaks are hard to find and tedious as well
A) Dont check plugs... just buy new ones there cheap enough to replace... gap them to .42-.47
B) Look at the plug wires... if old/bad replace they too are pretty cheap and worth replacement... if you dont want to replace get a voltmeter and test each one...
C) go through the wiring and make sure theres no frayed and or missing connections.. crimp and fix all that apply it to is worth checking cheap and easy fix...
D) Check the ignition module... look to see if its ok? its kinda of hard to test i havent done it but if you want to rule that out replace it...
E) make sure all the sensors and stuff are hooked up properly on the carb
F) Make sure no vacum leaks are present
G)New cap and rotor
H)Check firing order

And to tell my story here... i chased a miss around for almost 2 months.. same story as yours... high RPM miss right before the shift... what it ended up being was a rotor exploded and fell into the bottom of the distributor and was spinning at the bottom... it cause the top part of the dizzy to be loose where the 6 points were... i pressed the 2 rivets and cleaned out the dizzy of all plastic and metal debris from the prev owner and whaaaalllaaaa... im not saying check this but shows you that ruling out things will help you and the dizzy was on the last thing to replace and i found my problem... so start with the cheap and easy and work your way down the list...

well just did the fuel filter... and its not that! im gonna do the plugs next and look at the vac lines and stuff...

make sure they are all in the correct places as well a couple of mine were mixed up causing a bunch of problems!

ok so i gapped the plugs a .044 with new ones, put in a fuel filter.. and still nothing... i checked the Vac stuff but i think i just need to get a good carb... any one have one of these fairly cheap? in the back theres a thing with about 4 hoses coming off it with bolts in them... and thats not right... the gromet around the PVC valve is also not the greatest... could that factor in... i dont get it... i can run it in 4th adn once it reves out it "misses" and shit but then you can lug it around in 4th and it goes fine... misses once in a blue moon... but not really bad... it was also really hard to start the first time i started it tonight and it never was hard to start like it was...

I might know of a carb i could send you pretty cheap... or you can rebuild your own!
Yea that 4 line is called the vacum tree and there should be no bolts in them.... go over the vacum diagram and attatch them to the proper spots... if 1 of those hoses comes loose on my car it dies... and if they are plugged it only causes other functions of my engine to fail!

well now that its cold as a witches tit out it runs great... how much do you want for your carb? i dont know how to do all the Vac stuff cause its a 84 truck with a 85 drive train (motor trans and tcase)

where do you live i have one ill give you if you live close
