Need advise on computer shopping.

for basic computing needs it doesn't really matter much, but as of now pretty much Intel is killing AMD in the performance sector.

Maybe for gaming. My AMD may not be as fast as teffie's intel, but mine has been running continuous with out a restart since i got it back from circuit city having the proc fan replaced...... that was around sep 10. Hers always has problems and needs to rebooted every hour seems like.

I would buy the AMD, or save my money and get a mac and my next laptop will not be an HP. but if you want a good in-expensive laptop then you can pick up and HP Pavilion for around $700, twice the machine of the compaq or the e-machine.

my mom has an emachine that was purchased back in 02 i believe or 00 an its STILL running good.. just really slow an outdated.. i had a emachine was awesome untill it got fryed from a power surge.. now i have an acer aspire... I LOVE it.. i can multitask an it runs great.. for the best bang id go with the emachines you can buy the extended warranty from best buy an be golden for an extra 2 years on it.
