Need advice for returning Ranger owner

Ok, more good info. were the 4 speeds pretty stout? was the 4speed an option for 83-88, or was it phased out? i am thinking the 2.9 only had a 5spd or auto for instance. the 4spd was a 4cyl only option or w/ a 2.8 too? was the 2.8 only carburatated until the 2.9?

Found a nice sounding 91

OK, so i found a 91 xlt w/ 167K on it. Seller says is has a newer Jasper motor and 4.0 5spd trans-although not sure when b/c the owner befor Him did it. It has a new clutch, new exhaust, new tires, 4" lift, new inspection and is an extended cab.

what specifically should i look for in this year? i know where the Jasper tags are so i can look for that.

He also said 4wd hi works but not low.
