this is what crutchfield said about your truck:

1977 GMC K Series Pickup
In-dash stereo
12" depth; Size code E,S,U
Front speakers
Dash: 3-1/2" factory speaker
Kick Panel: 6-1/2" factory speaker
Front Door: 6x9" factory speaker
Far rear speakers
Behind Seat: 4x10"

if it was my truck heres what id pick

headunit

this is probably the only thing id buy from crutchfield. its $129.99+free shipping. they have one in their outlet for $116.99. this is the 08 model. i have the 07 model. plus theyll include the dash kit and adapter harness

this is what crutchfield noted as i put that headunit in the shopping cart for your truck:
What you need to know:
The harness does not have a constant power connection, so you will need to connect your new receiver's memory wire to a source of constant power in your vehicle.
The harness does not supply connections for the front speakers, so you will need to run new speaker wires to your front speakers.
The harness does not supply connections for the rear speakers, so you will need to run new speaker wires to your rear speakers.
The harness does not have a ground connection, so you will need to connect your new receiver's ground wire to a grounding point in your vehicle.

id get about 30' of 16g speaker wire. i picked up 20' of stinger speaker wire for $6 locally. i definitly suggest applying some deadener. elemental designs has some affordable deadener. as far as a sub, your going to have to pick that one out. i dont know how much space you have to work with. id go with the biggest one you could fit. since it wont be seeing a significant amount of power id just use .5" mdf to build a box.

heres what i came up with on ebay:

Pioneer DEH-P3000IB $99.99+$20s/h(better off getting it from crutchfield)

couldnt find those polk component speakers but these alpine type r's would be good too

when you go to a local stereo shop to pick up some 16g speaker wire, dont forget to pick up 2 sets of rca cables. thats all i can think of right now. good luck

the only "factory" speaker in my truck is a dash one, which is blown.

Ok. This is looking to be more expensive than I was expecting. Can we just price this without amp/subs for now, so I can add those later, I don't think I can afford it all at once.

looks good to me, thats the deck i was talking about in the begining of this thread, good choice :)
