I'm just about finished with a 2.8 rebuild and am a bit perplexed as to which gaskets as well as the order that I need to put the carb back on. I have the intake back together and have the thick spacer plate and lots of base plate gaskets that came with the rebuild kit. I just rebuilt the carb and the kit shows what looks like a thin gasket goes on each side of the spacer but I have no idea what goes after that. I couldn't find anything that displays the gasket sequence to bolt the carb on in my somewhat worthless Haynes manual.

So if anyone can tell me how to determine which intake to carb gaskets and spacers I need, I'd appreciate it. This is for an 84 Bronco II.

Thanks - Kirk

intake manifold -> gasket -> spacer -> gasket -> carb -> 4 nuts to hold on the carb -> air filter housing -> air filter -> air filter housing top

don't forget the butterfly nut at the top and drive off with it somewhere loose under the hood :)

Actually, it should be:gasket, EGR plate, gasket, plastic spacer, gasket, carb, assuming the engine is stock.

The plastic spacer on my 2.8 came with gaskets already stuck to both sides. And don`t forget the carb to air cleaner gasket!

And remember... theres a this side up on the spacer... take it from me after my rebuild...

"Why does it run like poo?" "Whats that hissing sound?"

i must be missing some parts on mine... i have one spacer that seems to be that fiber board type deal, there is also a plastic spacer? time to get to the junkyard =)

Yours may be a fiber type spacer and not the plastic type.
