narrowing a dana 44 question

Im currently narrowing a dana 44 My ? Is they say u can use And early bronco axle If u cut the tube down 6 inches do i measure 6 inches with the knuckle off The tube already. Any answer would be a Big help
 
Yes, pull the knuckle off without cutting the tube, then cut 6 inches, re-install knuckle...

Do a search in my SVT build thread, I narrowed a Dana 60 front. It will give you guidelines even though its a 60, its the same principle for a 44...

Ok so I haven't been Workin on my truck for awhile but the dana 44 I have has the wedges on the knuckle to so do I just take the knuckle off and cut 6 inches off or do I measure with the knuckle on.
 
If you have the cast wedges(wedges and inner C are one piece) then you would cut the weld at the wedge, knock the wedge/c off, cut 6", then reinstall the wedge/c. Fyi, instead of using an EB shaft (which has the weaker 260 joints) grab one from bronco graveyard (about $75) so you can use the stronger 760 joint, since that is the size of the rest of the shafts in your axle...
