I have a 1997 mountianeer rear end an would like to narrow it to go in my, ranger.

Seem's you can cut the long side to equal length of short side an use 2,
short axle's.

Is there an article on here that give's the info. ????:headbang:

Thank's Mike

Yes it will but it's longer than the factory rear end. I will be using wide rim's & tire's,
an need the room.

I have been told there is a post on this site with the info.

I just cant find it.

Not to say it's not in here somewhere, but all I've seen is a front solid axle narrowed like you describe. And I can't find that thread either.

Do you have a 7.5 or 8"? That info would be helpful.

Sent from my iPad avoiding something that I should be doing right now.

It's an 8.8 / 31 spline axle disc brake rear end out of a 1997 5.0 mountianeer.

It may be cheaper to find the right offset rims to tuck the wheels in.

Problem with doing that is the driveshaft can get into fuel tank. This is why its offset in the rangers, but not the bronco ii's or the mustangs. Cutting the axle down is as simple as cutting the housing straight, beveling the ends then making multiple passes to build the tube back up, then grind flat. I've done it multiple times, and I think its in my SVT build thread somewhere...

Thank's ranger STV
It get's a rear mounted drag car fuel cell so no problem with fuel tank.
I need all the room i can get to stuff a set of fat tire's .
Trying to work around tubing it.

Did you have to make more inner or outer fender room ?

What spring hanger kit did you use ? :icon_welder::icon_welder:

No mods to outer wheelwells.

I had to remove some of the support brace on the bottom of the box, but didn't have to tub it.

I used Explorer front spring hangers and made my rear shackle hangers.
