My V-8 2wd monster has a sibiling now!

Update!!!

Replaced the wheel bearing, and threw the brakes back on that corner, and took it out for its 'test drive' *I bought it without driving it, Friend was previous owner, I let him drive it with the dead bearing to my house... I told him not to :(*

Here are my impressions:

Wow is this truck big... I know its still 'just a ranger' but it has the same driving position as my 95 Silverado did *Granted my ranger is the 4X4/Off-Road and the Silvy was a 2WD* it feels bigger in every way than my lowered 2wd, and its amplified by the crew cab and over-sized tires.

The road manners for having 152K on the clock are impressive, the ride is smooth without being 'floaty' and the throttle is crisp and acceleration is smooth. The transmission kicks down without hesitation and it idles so smoothly i thought it stalled out at the stoplights.
The 4X4 transmissions smoothly into 4X4 high, and has a nice firm 'THUNK' when going into 4LOW in neutral.

Onto the bad
I have noticed that there is a small miss when crusing on the highway or a set speed for more than a min or 2, and a bit of driveline shudder when first rolling *I suspect bad/dying U-Joints* and WOW is that mechanical fan loud... I've become so used to the electric fan on my V-8 and not hearing anything over my exhaust I forgot what Mechanical fans sounded like.

I've driven F-150's as well, and honestly, I can't think of any reason why someone would have purchased a 6 cylinder F-150 over a ranger.... Ever.

You sound to be proud of a having a truck that is bad for the the environment that it is like "clubbing baby seals". :annoyed:

I'm not trying to be a dick or tell you to drve a hybrid. but nobody should be proud of a negative influence on our environment. If you turn that 2k into a wheeling truck, I hope you find a new respect for the environment fast.

blah environment... I do actually feel a little bit proud every time I punch the guts out of a catalytic converter! mmmm, delicious unburnt hydrocarbons...

New truck looks really nice! Love having them extra doors. Now that you know how easy the swap is, wait for Spring to add some muscle to that heavy truck!

Don't tempt me! Lol :yahoo:

I just kid about it. My green truck has both cats on it, the orange truck has been stuffed back into the garage.

And on a side-note, I DO drive a hybrid, when I need to take further trips I borrow my dads car... I just hate people that drive hybrids 'for the enviroment' You'd be surprised how much harm they do. Between the strip mining for the batteries, and all the other manufacturing damages that are being done you'd be better off keeping the beater truck than buying a prius...

True story... Loving this truck. Rides so nice, has enough torque to putter around comfortably, mpg doesn't even seem to be too bad (Used to my V-8 with 4.10s granted...)

Looking forward to playing with the 4X4 this winter!

Fixed my broken picture links, gonna take pics of it clean later, and pics of it towing the orange sibling out to Byron this weekend I hope!
