Meh I'd throw a windshield and a cage In It and call it good. It's a he'll of alot better then mine was and I was putting it back on the road until I ha to get rid of it cause we had too many trucks here
I went out to Christmas Valley Oregon and rolled it in the sand, that's why the damage is fairly minor.
I'm going to push out the dents and the roof as much as I can, the shackle mounts should be easy to straighten, won't take too much work to make it hold a windshield again.
those aren't oil leaks, they are "chassis rust prevention" , cruising at above atmosphere the thing leaks a bit...
I'm still gonna say get a cage in there. If you rolled it once your doing enough to do it again. Plus scince you've already done it once (even though it wasn't that bad) the roof will crush easier next time
I knew I had a post on here somewhere, since I parked the truck in June of '12 I kinda stopped thinking about it...
First a super late response to N-bannerman, the gears are a very nice match, especially now that the engine runs how it's supposed to
Straightening the shackle mounts:
Landing spot:
Mud flaps:
New shoes when I picked them up:
Old versus new heater blower box:
Engine install and porting process:
OK, last edit, just had to add how much I SEVERELY HATE the new Photobucket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I change that to dislike the new photobucket, if it wasn't so taxing on my ancient computer it probably wouldn't be too bad
Since I'm posting a bunch of pics, I might as well post more :
Port work, some unmodified, some in the middle of porting and some after the work is done, I plugged the stem holes with valve stems with the heads cut off while grinding, was a good idea...:
CLEAN engine compartment (I am aware it's not perfect, just about 300% better than before...):
And the truck as it sits now, cleanish, running, and sitting on new shoes...:
And as a note, I'm getting used to the new photobucket...
I've yet to take it offroad, other than a little putzing around a friends house where it was slippery and the tires packed easy... but what doesn't at 30psi? I don't know if it'll be a good comparison as I couldn't really run the old tires under 15psi without loosing a bead fairly easy (slippery from being old rubber). But I have a friend that has the same tire and he goes everywhere with them, they seem to be a good all around tire for the price ($1100 mounted, balanced and siped)
My tape measure and calibrated eyeball alignment seems to be working well, all the nubs wore off the front tires evenly, and after the nubs wore off the back... I think the turbo and locker helped that
