My truck let me down today....

hows the heater work ? My friend has a dodge dakota with a 318 v8 his heater hasn't been working very well for a couple weeks, well last week he was on his way home from work it was 9 below out he was driving 65 mph on the highway, and his truck suddenly over heated so bad that it was billowing steam out from under the hood so he came to my house to let it sit and cool so he could pour water in it to make it the rest of the way home. so i followed him home he said it did fine going home. he took it to the radiator shop the next day they told they needed to flush the system 'cause his heater core was cloged and he need a new radiator. worked great sence.

great heat, no problems there.

Alright, a little resolution to this. So after the mishap, I drove the truck to work, about 60 miles both ways and I didn't have any issues besides it not getting warm due to no stat, so I put a new one in and drove it to work the rest of the week and I didn't have another problem. I went out last Saturday and did some more snow wheeling and it started to get warm again but I quit before it got hot. Must just be from low air flow because as soon as I got back on the road, it cooled right off. So I went home and put my fan shroud back on (it has been off for over a year with out issue summer wheeling and all, I just left it off since the body lift because I needed to make brackets to remount it lower) I know I should have had it it, but I think that was my issue, haven't tested it yet. If I have anymore, I am going to get an electric fan and mount it on the front of the radiator and use it as a pusher.

Moral of the story, use your fan shrouds, they are there for a reason:annoyed:
