So I have a nasty whine. I just bought the truck and I guess I would whine too if someone ran me forever with about a tea spoon of oil in me. Oh, well. It whines lika a SOB in every gear buth fourth. I assume that would be the pocket bearing between the input shaft and the main shaft right? That's the only thing I can think of that does not spin in fourth gear. So, assuming that's my problem how hard is it to change it? Does the whole trans need to come apart or can I just take off the front bearing retainer and pop the whole input shaft out? Thanks!

That might be the one, I am not sure. I just rebuilt my TK5 last year because the dipshits that rebuilt it put the old roll pins in. You have to take it all apart to get to the front bearing, it isn't too hard actually I had more trouble getting the trans out of the truck then rebuilding it. And I would just buy a master rebuild kit online, you get all the bearings new gaskets and pins and stuff... Only like 200$ for mine. Hope this helps I think i can find some pics of mine apart. Also a bearing press is your best friend.:icon_thumby:

Bummer, pics would be helpful. I've rebuilt a T-5 before so this shouldn't be all that different. What kit did you buy? All the ones I've found don't include the one bearing I actually need, the pocket bearing.
