My Time To Brag / Other Hobys?

dude, i got a cheap acoustic 6 string with the bottom 3 are nylon instead of steel that I got 16 years ago and have yet to find time to learn to play it, I can barely tune it and can play like 3 songs, used to be 4 but i can't remember how pretty woman went. so that was a forgotten hobby. What I am getting at is the only 3 things I am good at involve driving, wrenching, or procreation. Being 31 and the CEO of my own company that I am trying to grow I barely have time for my kids let alone another hobby. So I have to live vicariously through you animals.

Anyone that plays in the Nashville, Indiana area can PM me and talk about getting together. We have a jam session every Friday night in my garage for the last couple of years. Always interested in seeing what people can do. It's all impromptu. We have a couple pretty amazing guitarists. Pretty much anyone that walks by ends up filling in on the bass. I play the drums.

Right on, will. (And every one else)

Now that amps have been brought up, i gotta state my amps/effects

On my pedal bord I run:

Origian Cry Baby
Boss OD1
Boss Metal Zone
Earnie Ball Volume
Boss Digital Delay
Boss Super Chorus
and then my super shitty Fender tuner

Amp wise I either use my Marshal VS100 and 4x12" VS cab

Or my 1969 Kustom K200 (Back in the day when Bud Ross owned Kustom) and a Randall 4x12" cab (Two prong all the way. This amp actually has a polarity reverse switch)

i own a cheap squire acoustic and a squire eletric with the small crap amp....i cant play...just dont have the cordanation for it. its a hobby i gave up on lol

I have a Boss Metal Zone pedal that I don't really use anymore. Right now I'm running a Digitech RP350 into a Marshall MG15DFX amp. The Digitech is pretty nice, I know it doesn't sound as good as stompboxes, but I can get some decent sounds out of it for what I do (just playing in my apartment).

The drum machine is a nice touch as well. I played with my buddy one time (he's a drummer) a few weeks ago, first time I ever played with a drummer, my timing SUCKED. Now I play with the drum machine all the time, I'm getting better.

Yup, quite a few of us have non-RBV hobbies.

I'm a musician myself. Trombone. Mostly jazz, but I've done everything from Renaissance (sackbut) to 70s rock (I hate playing rock on brass as it's far, far too repetitive -- some of them don't even have chord "changes" because there is only one chord). At the moment, I'm in a pit orchestra doing a run of The Music Man (closes 18 Nov). We're 73 trombones (and 107 cornets) short....

A lot of guitar players experience that it seems.

The one-chord thing is especially true when it's impromptu and my brother is 20 minutes off in a zone on one chord. You try to get a feel for what's going on with what they are playing so you can add fills, thicken some of the bass, help build tension--but you know, sometimes you get tired of it when it goes back around again for the 15th time and wish you had a button to push on a drum machine so you could slip inside for another beer.

When it's going and everyone is in the groove, it's a hell of a lot of fun.

I drummed. About 20 years ago.

My son is doing it in school now. Had to rent him a snare. Started playing the drum to show him how it's done when I gave it to him. Little nervous at first. Been a long time. My son was pretty shocked that I played and could still play. I don't think I could read the notes anymore though. I miss playing.

I'm surprised how many people here are musicians. That's pretty cool.

What would you suggest for a small, cheap amp for my old, cheap guitar? lol.

I played clarinet in elementary school and bass clarinet in middle school. Playing the bass was fun, but I didn't want to deal with high school band so I gave it up heh.

Peavey makes good equipment for not too much money. I've owned a couple of their amps and liked them. I've played bass guitar off and on since I was 21 or so. I was playing with a few friends for awhile, but that faded out about a year ago. Too much drunkeness/bad behavior/broken equipment. I still talk to the drummer about putting something together, since he was the only serious one of the bunch. Probably be a Southern Rock sorta thing.

My stuff:
Fender Jazz bass, cheap Epiphone bass(the one they broke,) Spectra 312 amp, Boss Overdrive pedal. I have a Japanese Gibson Flying V copy, maybe Ill learn to play a 6-string ...:icon_hornsup:

i send my signal into dunlop 95q wah, then ts-9 tube screamer, then behringer v-amp,out left to marshal vs102r,right to peavy clasic chorus 212.v-amp gives master volume control so amps are up 1/3 and i can get loud enough without having the deputies pounding in the door.each amp is 212 at 100 watts.to get loud,i play at my brothers house through the 412 crate "blue voodoo" and piss his nieghbors off.z-man,peavy has some nice amps for starter amps.still think a les paul thru marshall rules.gotta be the right marshall, see gary moore, zak wilde, jimmy page,etc...george lynch didn't always play the kamikaze.
