My sub box

yes, I had to trim a little bit of plastic. I used either 3/4 or 1/2 mdf, I forget which, but 1/2 should be fine for something that small. What exactly is polyfill?

its kinda like foam or insulation. used inside of subwoofer enclosure to make them sound better (for the most part)

The best place to get polyfill is from an old pillow that you are no longer using.

stuff some pink insulation inside and the sub will think you have a bigger box. Just make sure it stays away from the mechanics in the driver.

That's not very much air space for a 10" subwoofer. I like the idea though.

If your sub box is a little short of the required air space just stuff some polyfill in the box. It will make if it seem like the box is bigger by slowing down the air movement inside the box.

this is true but the pressure on the back side of the cone is the same so unfortionaly there's only one way out

first, you shouldnt need to fill it with any thing, all that does is over heat the sub, and you can blow them faster. and how making the CF less makes it sound like a bigger box.....idk......he box is gonna give him a punchy sound vers a biger box will make more rumbley. id form the the box to cover all of the cover. even if it means adding a lil tab to the top of the box to fill in space.

who ever said they wanted to use a kicker you need to use the cvt its there flat one.

to the guy that wants to cut off the center of his seat......wft go buy another pass side seat and have "40/40" then put the sub there and save the seat in case you want to sell it or what ever.

also. if you wanted to have subs and seats buy an suv. you have limited space back there any way. if you want to leave it stock and work around everything in the up position i get that. but who in there right mind would want to jam in next to a 10 inch sub. or and sub for that matter. the seats suck to begin with with out having a sub in your face, and your balls crushed.


sorry thats kinda ranty. i dont want to sound like an ass but you have to come to terms with your limitations and make a decision one or the other.


and ps i like the idea but whos gonna put there drink on a sub,

Poly fill won't cause the speaker to overheat. I built a 3 way home speaker in the 80's using poly fill and it's still working today,never overheated.I got the plan out of popular electronics and they said to use poly fill back then.

it would probably overheat if you stuffed it dense and tight like a pillow, but I leave it loose and light enough in there so it fills the box without actually having to compress the filling at all.

True, if you tightly pack it in but you're suppose to loosely place it in the box.

but you shouldnt need it at all. that trick was to make the boxes smaller back in the day when all boxes were square, and it would make them "hit" harder

It doesn't take up much more space than the jack did. And noone wants to be in the back seats of a ranger, sub or no sub. True, if i wanted full back seats and space for an "ideal" sub box, an explorer would have been a better choice, but if you have an extended cab ranger and you want some bass in your music, but need to occasionally use your seats, I think I came up with a good solution. PS, the cupholder was more of a joke, I actually just took it off because it kept rattling.

ok i dont get how the sub between my 2 buckets will "crush my balls" but whatever. secondly, it wont be in my face??? the port and sub will both face the rear on the cab so that the bass resonates in the back half of the cab. i tested it out today and it sounds amazing and the bass sound is now centered in the cab which evens out the noise for both driver and passenger. i can show pics after i cut off my center seat to fit the tube.

ps...i would just buy another passenger seat to have a 40/40 combo. but that not too easy to come across and have it match my current seats

non of the in your face and crushing your balls was talking about your set up.
it was refering to people jaming them in between the jump seats in the back
