My Son rolled his Ranger.

Woah! Simmer down now...Don't you know who Tom Slick is? Around here he's a guy who's always trying to win a race, but his drag racer car is always breaking down for one stupid reason or another. think early 1980's Saturday morning cartoons. Tom Slick in this case would be my son who wrecked his truck.

As far as a "field" goes and "tearing it up" I guess I should have noted that the field in this case is private property and he has permission to run his truck around that field. Due to the fact that the field is owned by a family friend.BTW one pass with the land plane and this precious natural resource of a privately owned field is as flat as it ever was. I suppose I should have stated that in the first post.

If I get kicked off of a privately owned and operated internet forum, I'm pretty sure that I'll make it in life. So if the admin feels the need to toss my account. I'll be expecting the message any day now.:shok:

you don't get it, i'm not talking about legality issues... i'm talking about perception of a sport that is in a bad light and losing government support at an alarming rate...

i'm not saying anyone is going to be banned from the forum... i'm saying the kid that made that last thread was so overwhelmed by people pointing out how much of an idiot he was, that he hasn't been back since... it wouldn't even have been a big deal if he would have just realized what the impact of a video like that can be, and went "hmmm, maybe you're right"

there's many quotes that you can find, that state basically this:

“You can't judge the many by the actions of the few.”
― Michael Buckley,

the reason there is so many, is because most people WILL judge the many by the actions of the few... how many black people are there in the world? how many of them are criminals? what is the perception of black people? is that right?

Oh I get it alright...
I understand...I flopped my Toyota at the soup kitchen and I scraped up all of the oil soaked dirt before I left that spot and hauled it out with me. I understand perceptions.

Wow! You should change your name to "Big Brother", your worse than the gov. It's a shame but this thread will porbably be locked because of this stupid banter.

Who cares if it gets locked. These kind of forums are privately owned. If the owned doesn't want this to continue, he'll shut it down. weezl and I are perfect strangers to each other. He believes what he believes, I don't have to flame him for it, but if he needs to flame me over an internet forum...flame away I don't take it personal. He feels strongly about this issue that he's driving his point home on and good for him. He and I will still never meet on the street.
As far as I'm concerned, he has a right to his opinions no matter what I think about his opinions.

I agree, and I'm not meaning to come off as flaming you... I am passionate about offroading, and it is a sport that is getting shut down where I live... The trails my dad used to go on are permanently closed due to abuse, and there is absolutely no funding going to repairs, because "it's a sport for hicks"

One off highway vehicle area has 4 trails for trucks open year round, but thats just how they number them, there is really only 2... There is an additional 2 "winter loops" open 3 months of the year, and 1 additional trail...

Of the 4 that are open year round, that's actually a lie... It's 2 separate trails that converge, off of there is access to the winter trails which is closed 10 months of the year, and feeder trail, that splits at the river, one crosses the river in 10 months of the year, but gets shut down for salmon spawning season the other goes to meet up with the other end of the winter loops

Anyways, this area used to have something like 200 truck trails... The quad and motorbike trails are all still open though...

Sent from somewhere naughty!

How is this any different than me trying to get up that trail a couple years ago, and rolled over bacwards???
Its on youtube......
Edit: it was private property, there was beer present, and rednecks!!!

well if you're trying to accomplish something, like make it to the top of the hill, there's a huge difference, but if beer is involved, honestly, not helping the fight

It's all in the name of fun man, if you don't think doing donuts in a field is fun, then don't do it. But don't diss the people who enjoy that kinda stuff.

what you're not getting is that that type of fun is directly impacting everyone else... my point is that if videos keep popping up on youtube, and the perception stays that people are just doing what ever they want, with no regard to what other people think, no one will be able to enjoy 4x4... maybe you think that it won't happen down there, but i sure as hell don't want your actions effecting me in a different country...

there's laws in canada about ages people must be to own certain vehicles because of teenagers street racing... no in ontario (someone from TO, correct me if i'm wrong) but you can't own a 5L mustang if you're younger than 20, you can't own a bike larger than 750 until you're 20... all because of a bunch of dumb kids...

In my eyes, no difference between me trail climbing, and doing dounuts. In my eyes.
And there was beer there, i had three before the crash,,,,,,, ALOT after the crash.
I raced amature arenacross for ten years, NO BEER, ever. Now i have a hobby that i can drink a little bit doing, im doin it!

I've just been watching this thread progress. I personally don't see the big deal with your son (Tom Slick) rallying his truck around on private property if he has your approval (and the property owner). If I could just offer one piece of advice, which I was given to me: If you're going to be out screwing around, be sure you're the only one in the vehicle. You literally hold your passengers lives in your hand when you operate a vehicle.

Maybe you've already gone over this though.
