before i made my flatbed i had a rollbar, but traded it for a rear tube bumper.

Don't use that as a good reason not to wear your seatbelt.
before you made your flatbed you had a LIGHTBAR much different from a rollbar, they offer no protection in a rollover, only a cage will do that... and doing anything when a vehichle is moving without a seatbelt whether it is on the road or not is just flat stupid. Nothing against you, glad you are allright.
that's commonly called a rollbar, it is a lightbar and offers no rollover protection. this is a fact. if you bought it new it would have said it in the instructions.

That thing wont do jack shit especialy with the bends in the vertical tubes, those will fold in half faster than you can say pancake.![]()

so your saying this isnt gonna do squat in a rollover? I agree if you only mount it to the truck bed. But if you mount it to the frame it will help.
