My new system setup

Where do you apply this stuff at? behind the speaker? around it? everywhere that rattles?

i usually do behind the speaker. and about a foot around it.

i mean the best way is to do the whole door or panel behind the speaker for best results.

but right behind the speaker is where the metal will get sucked in and out the most when the bass hits. so thats where you need it the most.

Do you think one roll is enough for all four speakers? The link you gave says that the stuff covers like 12 sq ft.

Thanks for the help, sorry if I derailed your thread, let us know when you get it put in

its all good man.

well the system is in. not sure if the amp is working 100%

the front channel works great. the rear doesnt seem to switch from hpf-flat-lpf and the gain doesnt make a difference on it.

might just be the way is designed though.

but it bumps. cant wait for the speakers to break in so i can turn the bass up.

i cant really hear the re 5x7s over my rsd comps. but they seem to sound good and have a good bump.

ill let you know how it sounds over the next couple days.

oh FYI the rsd comps are BRIGHT.

ok. now that ive fine tuned the settings a bit.

DO NOT SET THE AMP ON THE FULL PASS FILTER.

with it set that way. with the bass on 0 the speakers distorted. so i switched it to the high pass filter. turned the bass on the amp to +6. have the gain about half way up. and have the bass on my headunit at about +2. this makes the speakers really tight and crisp.

the panasonic headunit i got has a 7 band equalizer so fine tuning it was time consuming but def. worth it.

and for the future. if you order the phoenix gold rsd components. mount the tweeter low. near the speaker, because there really bright up high. i have mine mounted on the side mirror covers on the top of the door panels.

i might pick up some new covers and mount the tweeters lower.

other than that its awesome. those re 5x7s really kick. i have the sound faded 5% to the front. and when a drummer is in a solo. it sounds like your right next to him. its epic

pics to follow tomorrow

if you like a real bassy punchy speaker. these are not for you. theyre very tight and crisp. but not rattle the doors loose bass.

but. so far so good. i think ill upgrade the rsd's in the near future though (SO GLAD I DIDNT GET THE ALPINE TYPE S)

but other than that. i realize i need a sub BADDDD.

SO. All that. and some added quick roof (poor mans dynamat) to the doors and rear pillars and we should be bumping pretty good.

of course ill post pics as i install the stuff.

your plant looks good.. and cheapy also 200watt ...you understand about not making the door slammed... I do not want to disturb the neighbors I when come back a little late

and roofing mat is that its insulating properties is good or is a bit of shit to cover
