well ive been looking for something 2wd with a small engine and manual trans, this fits the bill...500cc air cooled 2 cyl and 4 spd get it 40 mpg...

clicky

definitely has the 'unique factor'

iv flushed bigger things than that down the toilet, and i bet my left nut i wouldnt fit into that thing. but id shure as hell try for 40 mpg.

says its in baja mexico but it was never offically exported. hes gonna ship it back to the US on his dime. some plan of his must have backfired

caugh caugh drug mule caugh caugh

na. you can only drive small cars like that in the major cities there so i fugure thats probably the deal. oh what the hell it looks like a drug running car.

You know it has to have some hidden compartments. No one would expect it

Funny. I spent several hours yesterday trying to figure out if I could put the little 20hp Kubota diesel I took out of my Bobcat into a VW Beetle. I think it would be enough to make it go 50mph and we don't have to go faster than 40. I can do everything I need to do without hitting a single traffic light where I live. It would make a great beat-the-system car for us. I realize it would not be enough power for US city driving, but it would do fine out here and get 60mpg probably--we have to go about 15 miles to town on 45mph county roads and there are three stop signs.

That little car reminded me of my research yesterday trying to see how little power cars can have. I was looking at the Citroen 2CV which was manufactured until recently. It had 9hp when originally made. The latest ones used a 600cc motor of maybe 30hp and made 50mpg. I think my Kohler could do 60mpg in something like that.

Keep the weight and frontal area to a minimun and you can get by with much less than 50hp. If your goal is only 50mph top speed and your not worried about passing power then 20hp is quite doable.

You do realize an Escort with a 1.9L and a 5sp can approach 40MPG? Wiht alot more power, room, and comfort.

later,
Dustin

ya. but then he would have to be seen driving the escort and no amount of MPG can make up for the loss in manhood that would result in driving it.
