My Maverick is ordered!!!!

Back in the 70's (I think), Burger King introduced the 1/3 lb burger to compete with McDonalds 1/4 lb'r. Failed miserably because people thought 1/4 was bigger than 1/3. No lie :icon_confused:

The think I have seen floating around Facebook said A&W.

I may be recalling it wrong but I saw a documentary on 'The Burger Wars', and believe it was BK. I could defintely be wrong. Let me see if I can find a reference.

The whopper is a quarter pounder and has been around since the 50's.

Annnnnnnd to swing the convo back to selling a car. I sold my Accord to GiveMeTheVin for 18k. Best offer I got private was 14k and was listed for a month. Car lots offered me around 11k. So who are they selling these cars to??? A lot will offer me 11k, but will buy the exact same car at auction for >18k?!?!

No one ever said they were smart or maybe some sort of money laundering thing.

I think, like someone said earlier, these new online dealers type places are willing to take the hit just to boost inventory. They can't be competitive with real car dealers if they don't have a massive nation wide inventory. They probably loose or break even on alot of cars but make it up on others. Plus I'm assuming they are gambling a bit on certain models. They see a car worth 10k now but in 2 years it could be worth 15k (look at how the price of used rangers is going). So they are willing to offer 12k to beat out everyone else and then sit on it until it ripens.

Maybe "they" are buying all the used cars up so people will have to go get the New ones.

If that were the case wouldn't it be easier to just go around setting everyone's car on fire? :dunno:

That seems to be GM's business practice...

From the sound of it, my car went straight to the auction yard. I had service records I meant to leave in the car. Texted the guy to see if he wanted them. He seems to think it wouldn’t make a lick of difference in value and it’d be too much of a pain to find the car to put them in.

"Carvana" picked my car up yesterday and the guy didn't even inspect the car. He started it, put it on the truck and gave me my check. I kinda joked how no one offered close to what they were giving me and the guy goes "yea I dunno how this works I just drive the truck for them". So I said wait, so they just wrote me a check for 13 grand and no one from this place has ever even seen this car? He shrugged and goes "yea that's how it's done".

I never cashed a check so fast in my life... :icon_rofl:

hah similar for givemethevin. They posted it on some contract carrier site. The guy who picked it up was real thorough with pictures for his protection. Could tell he got blamed for something in the past. Then called the company. I heard half the conversation: “scratches? Not really. There’s a few. Ya I guess just normal little scratches. Looks fine. Seems to run fine. no check engine light.” And that was it.

This guy didn't appear to do anything like that, maybe he did a once over when I went inside to sign the title and paperwork for him but he seemed more interested in just getting the hell off my property... I mean my ducks "BARELY" even bit him.
