my honda is sick

So I had an electrical issue with my ranger on Tuesday. Turns out the terminal connectors were bad. I had the battery tested twice, checked my grounds and for the life couldnt figure out why i was getting no lights no crank or anything. This all happened in a 3 hr time frame while in class. Worked perfect on the way to school. absoulty nothing once I got there. Had to take it to the dealership ( I rented a tow dolly and borrowed a old work truck) and they call me today to tell me the terminal connectors was the problem. Are you Serious? BTW I even cleaned the terminals and old connectors myself before i brought it in. i didnt know those could go bad. Dealership said $170 for parts and labor. I laughed and said push it out front, ill do it myself. He called me back 5 min later and said we will do it for $10. I said thank you i appreciate you not raping me. All is well except my wallet being $118 lighter for what could have been $5. Ohh the joys of vehicles.

Got the call today from Honda stealership. After I pitched a fit over the 870 repair estimate. The service rep called the local rep and asked for some type of assistance from HMC.Well the will give me a Honda remanned starter and HMC will pay for half of the labor. So instead of a 870$+ tow to a 450$ repair including the tow.So am I pissed about the breakdown...Fawk ya.Am I happy that I have to fork over 450$ Fawk no.Considering it was at the dealership and it would have cost me more to re-tow it to another facility. I did call my normal mechanic an he quoted me 380$.All I can say is HMC was nice enough to resolve my problem quickly.
Thanks for the input form everyone

Hey 86 thanks for the offer.Do you fm132's change outs? No really thanks:beer:

Popped the hood on our Pilot. The starter is right in front under those 2 radiator hoses, next to the battery. There's lot of room around it. It's a parking lot job.

My mom's impala wouldn't start one day when she left work.

She said it just made a humming noise. I went up from work and popped the hood everything looked fine. Tried starting it, acted like the battery was dead.

Grabbed the jumpbox out of the truck and when I went to hook up the positive side the cable fell off... except it was still threaded into the battery.

The who positive output of the battery rotted off!!

Pulled it out, had to tip it to get it out and half the battery acid went all over the ground. Put in the new battery and Voila.

Weird.

yeah, those battery bolts are a horrible design. we sell about 10 a day. almost always replace batteries that someone overtightened.
