My head is spinning.

Thanks Dhare. that helped.
85-Ranger4x4, said it best, it gets blurry, for me, as to what comes with what. I'm a cheapskate and want my dollar to go as far as possible, so I am trying to figure the cheapest way to get the features I want and/or need.

I really hate paying for things I don't want to pay for.

If you go by the historical record STX's are only badged as "Ranger" with no XL/XLT denomination.

I really like the STX package. The 101A package you refer to is more than a radio, it also includes cruise control and power mirrors which are a must for me. The rest of it I don't really care about.

For longer road trips, cruise is so nice to have. I miss it when taking my 2011 on a trip.

I even added the factory system to my '85. :icon_thumby:

Yes cruise is a must these days.
I read that some STX Rangers were just XL Rangers with stx stickers, depending on the year
I'm wondering why theyare you jump through hoops just to get certain things. You can only get "this" if you get "this" trim and "this" package and "that" only comes on the 4wd model with "this" package and "that" trim isn't even offered on 2wd so. So Figure it out and buy a new truck lol

It is a PITA. There were things I had to “eat” to get the FX4 package like aluminum rims instead of steel. There were also things I would have liked to have gotten but would have had to move to the XLT instead of the XL and lose the rubber floor.

I just ran through the options until I got the truck I pretty much wanted with the minimum of what I didn’t want. It helps that I know a salesman on the commercial truck side that was willing to make a custom order for me. My 2011, I was stuck with what they had on the lot.

PM me with your email address and I can send you the file directly. It's not a very detailed brochure but it might help break things down for you a little.

STX package is only available on the XL series. Must get XL, then add on the STX package. It is a package nowadays just like Fx4 and Fx2 is a package nowadays.
