my ford bolt project questions

the 2.3 would be easy but i'd rather do the t-bird supercoupe v6.

I like turbos fine in small cars but I like that instant-on torque in a truck.

i throw my bias around, but i like the supercharger. if you want your ranger to be like the "lightning" (the come stock with the S/C) thats just my thought..if i had the money, i would swap the 5.4 with S/C into my ranger...like those dudes already did...thats a lightning bolt for you..

i have the whole lightning setup ontop of my 4.0 v6..yaa its expensive as someone said, soo the 2.3 might be the best bet on this one.

if you really want a "lightning'ed" ranger, i would stay with the lightning supercharger, otherwise, what about it will connect it to the lightning?

Its not about connecting it to the lightning but using the lightning concept on the ranger. Put a 5.4 S/C v8 in it then its just like a lightning but smaller. I dont think it should be a small copy but rather its own with the same concept of a fast street truck with an name similar to lightning but smaller. And looks similar.

Turbo or super doesnt really matter to me honestly. ive seen some turbo rangers on youtube the get up and move. At this point though im really thinking of getting a 2.5 and either putting 2.3 parts in or finding forged pistons for it. The 2.5 swap would be amazingly simple as all of the parts fit right in.

Thats a very monochrome statement...

I wouldnt trust the 3.8 for anything... possibly one of the worst engines ford ever made.

M90 on a 3.0 would be fun, but Id rather have a .60/.63 T3 on it, easier to package as well.

building a T3 turbo setup for your 3.0 will be the easiest most economical way you could go. Its simple strait forward with out spending tons of time swapping motors and dealing with the electrical componets. I also agree the 3.8 is a head gasket poper not to mention the crank bolts always get ripped out and tear the dampner up.

I agree. Why swap out nearly everything under the hood, when you can just build a forced induction setup for what you have now? I'd think a turbo, or Procharger type supercharged 3.0 would be a much easier route. I have no idea of how much boost the stock 3.0 would hold, but it should be enough to accomplish what you want. Unless you want your baby Lightning to run circles around your big one.

This is what i wanted to do. i picked the 3.0 because its known as one of the durable ford engines out there. i have around 250k on mine and it runs like it did new.

Money doesnt really concern e unless its a huge amount. i would think new stronger forged rods/piston and an eaton s/c and it will be great. but i dont know how much boost it will take before i blow a cylinder wall or something.

there are a few people on here running whipples and m90s on their 3.0s i think, if its not here, check rangerpowersports, i definatelly know they have some people running the 3.0s

Well I don't know what it takes to blow out a cylinder wall on a 3.0, but on a 2.3 (with the weaker e8 casting) it's about 28-30 psi, and a bad tune.
