What's with all this 2.8 silliness going around on TRS?

I don't get it, every 2.8 I have ever owned has worked better as a boat anchor than a power source.

my 2.8 never let me down before i fried the main power wire. and its a farm truck that never had its oil changed in 2 years when i first got it. it was a sludgefest but still never let me down. supposivly has like 224k but i need to check the title

The 2.8 liters weren't in rangers for that long. Thats what makes them special plus they are the first and last carbed v-6 in them too. I'd rather have a 2.8 then a 2.9....but as for a 4.0, ya I'll take that too.

I'm not going for a power plant, I'm just asking for more power then a 2.3 liter. Plus my 2.8 liter was FREE!!!!

Ya I know your giving us shit BlackBII, If I had the money I'd put a 4.0 liter in.

California is great and all.....but I would never live there because of smog (and other reasons). My dads truck wouldnt pass and mine wont either afther I get my motor put in. It wont have any emissions stuff on it.

Naww...

I should care about the environment more then I do when it comes to vehicle emissions. But I dont pollute or liter and recycle so I'm doing my part to help.

dude that ranger is sick i would like to kno more on ur 8.8 swap i need to do that to mine well... i dont need to but haha i would like to and would like to also do a rebuild on a 2.8 mine burns oil ill post a build thread soon its my daily driver so its alot harded to do things but it look like u have come along ways on that thing nice job

hahah... im pretty frugal...
Bumper ( $40 at a pick yard ) Painted, Welded new Brackets, Grade 8's and bam!
Lights (Harbor freight $18 lights on sale 100w each with wiring and switch)

Umm... i have a bad input shaft in my mtx sooo im gonna get a new one and new t-case as well! so that first for sure.. then my new 2.8!

and thanks all in the mean time of trying to get it passes smog lol!
