My 79 F350 Highboy

trans

the zf5 will fit in the truck you need one from a 460 truck, the 205 will bolt up...as will a high tourque starter which you'll need for that monster engine.. you'll also need a racing clutch or something similar... the crossmember needs to be moved/modified and you'll need to install a hydraulic clutch assembly of some kind...if your inguinuative you could rig up a mechanical system, i found the hydraulic easier...:icon_welder::icon_thumby: by the way the V8 ZF is supposed to be rated at 600hp breaking threase hold...

Thanks man I have a divorced 205 in it ie: Highboy chassis

That trans was out of a F350 460 2wd 1992, seems pretty tight. Soon as the snow stops & we can get her into the shop to install. Still need a set of valve springs & keepers.

Hyd. clutch is what I have in my 89 F250 I like it.

Very nice lookin truck:icon_thumby: If you plan on revin the 460, I would make sure you use 10 degree valve spring keepers instead of the 7 degee.as i have seen the 7s pull threw on a few high revers with good springs. Also very nice trail rig!!

I have another set of PI or DOVE's with new Manley SS 10deg.

Prolly going to use one of those heads.

Wow 7 deg pull thru?....:icon_surprised:

um, is it possible to turn a 460 7,000 rpm more than once? never seen that one. saw a guy turn a 454 8000 once. literally. fresh build, about 6000 miles on it, revved the piss out of it and watched a rod say fck this im outta here. lol. it left a hole the size of the holland tunnel where it came out. recall on the tach said 8100 rpm.

nice project man, those old dent side fords are still my favorite body style fullsize ford. i will be watching this thread.
