Here's the info:

I bought it like it was in the pictures. I have been planing a build for years, then found this for a steal of $1500 with a slipping trans, and a missing cylinder, but drivable, even has cruse control. Other then that, it starts and runs good. Edlebrock Performer intake, Holly Carb. As far as I know the rest of the engine is stock. I was told that the engine is a 95 Mustang HO, but with the fireing order being the non-HO firing order I am due to believe it is not, unless that's why cylinder 3 and possibly others aren't firing. I am going to guess that it it a crown vic motor otherwise, but haven't verified any of that information yet.

Here is my question:

Is there anyway to tell more information about the engine without pulling anything off? If it has E6 heads, I would assume that that would be a good indicator that it's a non-HO.

If it is a non-HO I want to convert over to a HO. So what needs to be changed? just the firing order? Cam? Would it be best to just swap out heads and a cam anyway?

Thanks guys, I have tried searching, but no solid answers, especially for a carb'd set up....

I have it getting another AOD installed right now, but between the firing order, dual sump pan, and manifolds I am really guessing this thing is from a crown vic....

i do believe startin in like 93 or so crown vics had 4.6 v8s....they werent the only cars with dual sump oil pan....mustangs had it too....and manifolds could be from a 60s or 70s mustang or maverick since those are what is used for the swaps......and i believe somewhere around the starter if you can see them there is a set of casting numbers that can tell you about the motor

Awesome truck!! If it was mine, I'd swap out the heads for sure. Do you know if it's a roller or no?

That's a really nice clean looking truck. Up here I'd pay $1500 even if it had the 2.3 in it. Good find.

Okay, so I had a problem with the shop I took it to. They didn't fix the miss, or install the transmission, and wont refund my money, sounds like I'll need to be taking them to court?

Anyway, The truck is not firing on cylinders 3 and 4, how they have spark to them....?

Figured it out. They had it set up for the non HO firing order. Switched it to the HO firing order and now starts up and runs perfectly, now I need to swap the transmission.
