Most modern replicas don't have the orginal maker stamped anywhere on them... aside from Hawkins... and they are just a style of rifle and not really an exact replica anyway. I have a couple Pietta revolvers, both Remington and Colt and while they try to catch the basic idea they make no effort to pose as a authentic pistol.
Some gun makers like those that tried to infringe on really popular guns like the '51 Navy Colts had stampings eluding to the original maker shortly before they were snuffed out by a lawsuit, but really I can't see anyone trying to knock off a rifle like this back in the day.
If it is in fact real, with the sights, double set triggers, and precussion ignition it was a top of the line rifle of its day.
I wouldn't shoot this one until you get it figured out what it is, but blackpowder is a fun thing to get into... I actually just got my fifth one today. The smoke and fire is the best part.
