Hey guys,

I've got a '96 Ranger 4x4 SC 4.0 5 speed and I'm going to do the exhaust when school ends in April.

My plan is to stick with the cats and the piping after the cat up to muffler, then go with a side exit slash-cut tip just before the rear passenger tire. It'll be a 2.25 in/2.5 out muffler.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with a similar setup and either Flowmaster's Super 44 or Super 40, or even the 40 Delta-Flow? I was even considering the Thrush welded since I've heard they're cheaper, anyone using one of those ? I'd like the truck to be pretty loud but with that deep, burbly tone that Flowmaster usually pumps out.

Cheers,

Reed

I'd recommend two things:

1. Search the forums and see what people have already done.

2. Search Youtube, there are a ton of exhaust videos on there.

If you clamp your new muffler in instead of welding, you can change it if it does suit you. Throw the muffler on CL and try again.

I ran a thrush welded with my stock pipeing and it was too quiet for me. But it sounded good. I think your going to have to go with bigger piping from the cat to the muffler so it will be loud like you want it

check description for part numbers/ specs. I think if you go flowmaster you will want to change it with in a year. I used to have a flowmaster 60 series and I find this is so much better. nice and deep sounding in person and no in cab resonance. the flowmaster vid is with an engine on its last legs, the magnaflow is a brand new 4L
