MPGs ON 98 RANGERS 3L

when im on a quater of a tank and i have 7 gallons left and it takes 10 gallons to fill it up from that point. thats why i assume i have a 17 gallon tank

ok just did the math on my mpg i am getting about 18 mixed city/highway. thats on 150miles on half a tank

man i average 12-15 with 31's 4x4 standard i was thinking exhaust would help but heck you guys are getting in the 20's stock... i don't drive like an ass either; i try to shift under 25oo, i use only premium all the filters fluids are always changed on time... hmm i guess ill just keep checking in here

On my 2004 regular cab short bed 5 spd with 3.55 and 31's, i only get about 16 during the winter. In the summer i average 18.

Personally, I would let it rev more before shifting. My auto usually doesn't shift until 2800-3200 rpm; unless I'm getting on it a little, then it shifts later yet.

I average 21 on bad days and 23 on good days. 98 3.0 3.73 gears and a five speed man. trans. I do drive like a grandpa most of the time though. I usually get about 350 miles a tank.

are you guys who are getting in the 20s running stock tire size and stock gearing? im getting 15.8-16.8 mpgs with my winter tires (215/75/15) and stock 3.73 gears?

I'm running 3.73's w/30x9.5, average about 22mpg highway, 19mpg mixed driving. I've found that lugging the 3.0l doesn't help get better fuel economy, it's likes rpms. My truck sees 3500-4000rpm daily driving it easy.

Idk what the things is about mine, i get 25 on the highway and i get about 10.5-11.5 city not sure what it is i know a lot of it is how hard you pump it in the city but i keep it low on the acceleration just enough for it to shift through gears very smooth. ill probably just fork out the money for a tune up and then see how it goes, it may just be something with the 98...

what you could try is if you have an overdrive off switch or button turn off overdrive when in the city like alot of stop and go and see if that helps and you can use it when under 25mph. thats what my transmission guy told me

im wondering if it might be where i get my gas from kroger... maybe the 10 cents off a gal isnt worth it ill check back in when i get gas from somewhere else

I am getting about 18 and have found that i get the best milage with mid grade gas.
