E fan will help,Lucas oil additive, high flow air filter, and Lucas carb fuel inj cleaner....on a 4 cyl it won't make a huge difference but things add up. I checked my mpg a couple weeks ago on my 2.9 and I'm getting 22+ MPG avg with 172,000 mi on it. All I've done is high flow air filter (cone),Lucas in the oil and fuel and a glass pack muffler...besides keeping it tuned up. My truck is listed as getting 23 mpg highway new.
I've found the Lucas only helps if the engine already has some pretty substantial issues. I used it in my Ranger for years to the tune of an extra 2 mpg, quieter running, and no smoke. Then I put a new engine in it and see no difference now that I have stopped using it.
