Sounds like you want to build a PC rig close to what I have. Right now, I'm in the process of upgrading from 1TB to 2TB with 3x1TB Seagate HDD in RAID 5 setup. RAID is very nice. It allows you to setup for speed or mirror coping. RAID 5 does both with some comparmise. My PC rig has 2xTV tuners, storage for everything, and still enough CPU power to game all day long. The stock cooling was a joke. A CPU idling @ 62-65*C is not good. Went with Zalman cooling solutions. Got my CPU temps dropped to 50*C idling and 55*C under full CPU use. I can still crank it up more, but then it tends to get a little noisy and I'm a light sleeper.
Heres My setup:
Intel Pen-D 3.2Ghz 840
Intel Mobo 975x chipset
Nivida GeForce 7800GTX 256Mb
Creative Labs X-fi 24-bit sound card
ATI 550 TV Tuner PCI (single analog channel)
ATI 650 Pro TV Tuner PCIe (1x analog & 1x digital tuner)
2GB 800mhz RAM
2TB HDD (3x Seagate 1GB in RAID5, upgrading)
DVD & DVD-RW bays
21" Widescreen LCD (planning on upgrading to a 32" Sony LCD)
Logitech Z-5500 5.1 surrounnd sound
Extras:
Sony PS3 hooked up to the 21" Monitor and 5.1 Surround Sound.
My ultimate upgrade would be the Intel D5400XS mobo with 2x Intel Core 2 CPU (4cores). But then I would need a whole different case and more room for it. But at least I would have all the processoring power I would ever need.
