More Bronco hear say.

The Bronco Sport is front wheel drive based correct? So how useful is a rear locker in that scenario? The "Bronco" is rear wheel drive with an optional rear locker, but you have to buy a $50K+ model to get a front locker? At least that's the only way I see the option on the Ford build page. Although in my case a more plain bare bones model would be fine as I really don't go offroad far enough to need a locker, I wish they'd offer a limited slip option in the lower trim levels at least though. Course I guess being the first year for both its kind of a testing grounds for them, and possibly more options available later on I'd hope at least. I do like the pricing on the Bronco much better than the over-hyped Wrangler for sure.

I'm just not so sure with that Ecoboost stuff, and given I have an aunt that works at a dealership they have quite the running tab of Ecoboost issue vehicles sitting around waiting on parts and engines. I wish they'd just offer an N/A engine and skip all that Ecoboost stuff personally...I could care less about fuel economy, if I'm gonna buy a brick to drive down the road, I expect it to get crap for fuel economy LOL...cough...cough my current 88 Bronco 2 and its 19mpg on the highway if I'm lucky....probably slightly less now with the larger heavier 235/75R15's on it instead of the tiny 205/75R15's it had on it...it looks better with the larger tires though and I swear it rides a little better too.

The full size Bronco from what I could find has a tow capacity of 3500lbs regardless if I get the manual or automatic transmission or so it seems on the specs on the website, not too bad I guess for the size of the vehicle, the short wheel base I assume is mostly the reason for what kind of seems to be a low towing number considering it shares some stuff with the Ranger I assume.

Is the Bronco Sport the same size as the Escape, looks like its longer and possibly a bit wider, but on the same chassis though correct?

Sasquatch is available on any trim, can get down around $40k if you play it right.

I am hoping for 20+mpg. My 85 which is a lifted brick on 31's with a wore out carbed V8 can get 18mpg running loaded with gear so I don't think I am too far out of line.

Suspension is very different from a Ranger. I do think a towing/payload package would have been well received though.

IIRC the Sport is a hair smaller than an escape actually.

Thanks for the details. Trying to pick through the Ford website is pretty confusing quite often. Definitely can't afford one right now but a 2 door Bronco would definitely be something I'd be interested in sometime soon. I've been kicking around the idea of selling my 88 EB Bronco 2. Trouble is I have way too much tied up in it to sell it LOL...and none of it is in mods, just engine/transmission/hood painted/lower body painted. I think about selling it occasionally then I go take it out on the back roads and reassure myself that it needs to stay in my driveway...if I get a newer Bronco the Bronco 2 could become my back roads toy for a while LOL.

I wish Ford would put as much effort in to the Ranger as they do the Bronco.

Hopefully that will come with the Bronco based Ranger some day soon...

I also read yesterday that Ford is introducing a new variant of the Bronco Feb 3rd before the start of King of Hammers.

Might be the Warthog... might be a Heritage Edition... who knows... maybe even a Bronco Pickup Truck. I'm excited to see what it is.

I want one of these New Bronco's in a bad way... but I just can't bring myself to buy one just yet. I remember a Ford engineer that use to frequent B6G saying after the reveal that Ford had plans to keep the Bronco buzz going for many years. There is still much to come and I've come to the conclusion that I just need a pickup... I'm still holding onto the dream...

Which is weird considering you can't even add bumper or larger tires to the bronco with the manual. The weak point must be the receiver.

Bronco truck sounds kinda neat, the pricing will be horrible though.

Considering Ford isn't doing any plan pricing on the Bronco literally for the same price as my wife's low-mid range Bronco I could have gotten a a pretty nice Supercrew FX4 Godzilla F-250 XL with just my discount if I didn't get any rebates or anything that way too... that would also have a rear locking diff.

Lord knows what kind of expense they would tack onto a Bronco truck...

The GVW is pathetic on a Bronco too.

You can't get a roof rack with the Sasquatch package because of weight.

The manual Sasquatch is a late availability thing so it isn't in the build and price yet but they will offer those two things together.

Oh I know... they sure aren't giving these things away. I haven't priced anything else... because I really don't want anything else.

As much as I want to see the Bronco bleed over into the Ranger... I'd like to see some Ranger come into a Bronco Pickup. I mean... they are built in the same plant... just makes sense to me. Bump up the GVW and add the towing capacity with a nice roomy cab and a six foot bed with a tailgate... I'm likely to pay a premium for that Bronco.

Whatever happens... it's a good time in life being both a Ranger and Bronco fan. It just keeps getting better.

Side note... there is few pictures floating around of the 2023 Ranger Raptor and the Bronco Warthog running amuck in Dearborn... full camo'd of course.

I pretty much gotta have a truck, so I have always watched them more than anything else. My wife's car has ridiculous miles and we use it for more long distance stuff like going to the inlaws than I do with my '150. But we don't exactly pull trenchers and fertilizer carts with the car either. She was wanting me to get a truck because my truck is physically older than hers but I have 70k fewer miles and it rarely leaves the county. And push comes to shove I would rather poke an engine or trans in my '150 than in her FWD based car... so I lobbied for her to get something else rather than me. The extended cab is a mild PITA but it does work, with the Bronco we won't have to carpool in the truck on snow days either.

And about a year ago a guy talked me into buying a slide in camper, with a 3/4 ton I could poke it in the back, throw the Ranger (or Bronco) on a trailer and haul the whole works to wherever with everybody in one vehicle. :icon_idea:

I hear tell there are rumors of a Warthog Ranger running around too. It has been theorized to even have a 5.0 :secret:

Considering all they did to get the Ranger back on the market again, you would think they'd have put much more into it than they did for sure. Just wish they would offer something other than the Ecoboost stuff for longevity and far less maintenance issues down the road for those of us who have to keep our vehicles for 20+ years. Even the 3.3L V6 they offer in the F150 would be fine with me, just not a fan of turbo charged engines trying to make up for the lack of displacement and cylinders. With the Ecoboost issues they've had I don't want them LOL.

Won't be able to afford a Bronco for several years, and by the time they are affordable for many they'll probably not be running LOL. For me I wouldn't need the offroad stuff, my 88 Bronco 2 goes wherever I would ever want to go anyways, so just a 2 door base model Bronco would be fine for me....maybe a limited slip differential offering would be nice for those of us who just need that bit of additional traction occasionally on the back roads. I like the size of my Bronco 2 and from what I can tell the new Bronco isn't too much larger in the 2 door configuration so that would be nice....an 80's or 90's Bronco would be nice too but they're a bit cumbersome on the back road trails that tend to get too narrow for full size vehicles LOL.

Ecoboost has been in trucks since 2011, that is pretty close to 10 years. They have held up pretty well with decent care.

I have had my '150 for almost 16 years (190k miles), my wife has had her car for almost 9 (260k miles)

We will be very disappointed if the Bronco doesn't hold up.

My aunt works at a dealership, so I get all the cool information about all the failures with them, they're not a great engine, and you'd think after 10 years they'd figure out how to build them. They have customer's vehicles waiting in line for months for major repairs compounded now by this scam of a virus stopping everything. Blown turbos, some have had them fail multiple times, blown engines, transmission issues, etc. Many are actually newer trucks with less than 10k miles on them...not a good sign when you have that many issues with those same engines, and now customers stuck without their vehicles for months. Luckily some have been given refunds and moved on, but for those stuck with their vehicles and can't use them, it would really be upsetting I'm sure.

Seems you have this all figured out... glad I could help!

If I could get the wife into a Bronco... got any ideas to help me?
