That sounds like fun honestly...

I think we should make plans to do this.

I've already been researching Springfield and the MOORE Expo website. I saw that there are several car related museums in/around Springfield; one was an hour way south in Branson. Justin isn't too thrilled with the vendors but I saw on the website that there is supposed to be seminars that I thought he might like. The SMORR park isn't too far away from the Expo, and the Rally actually goes from the expo site to SMORR so I'm hoping to have some fun there for a bit. The hardest part for planning that I have come across so far is lodging. Most hotels I saw right around the fairgrounds were iffy on their reviews but I did find at least one that was promising but then I got to thinking about vacation rentals and ended up finding 1 on vrbo that looked very promising for Oliver.

Vrbo... isn't this an Overlander expo?

I was thinking if I went I would just camp... you know... like overlanders would do.

It's $150 to primitive camp and then $225 for a hookup. And Justin I didn't think was sure about taking the camper.

Good lord.. 150$ for a plain ol tentsite? That's insane.

It looks like its $150 for several nights. Still kind of steep for a non-hookup campsite.

Camp Northology 2024 Open Camping
Open camping is in the general camping area. No hookups are available for these spots. Arrival begins Thursday, April 18, 2024 and departure is Sunday, April 21, 2024. Bathroom and showers are available at the bathhouse. Camping passes do not include admission to the expo. Each camping pass covers a single vehicle for the camping area.

$50 a night seems high, but I’m sure the price is jacked a bit for expo.

You see the same thing for hotels when there is a big convention in town.

If I can make it work out, I was looking into the vrbo since I want to be down for several days so we can do some sightseeing. There are several museums that looked promising. I found a vrbo that had a swingset in the backyard which I thought would be nice for Oliver. Or, there are a few parks around we may do the camping thing. Will have to do some more research. The bronco for sure would be going, not sure about the ranger. That is up to Justin.

April could still be on the cool side for tent camping with a little kid.

It is better, when they first started doing this it was always like Valentines Day weekend. Then they had an honest to god blizzard come thru which I am sure really added to the camping experience and they decided to push it back a little later.

Our tent is basically shot too, still working on the logistics.

If I could get a power campsite I would make war with the heater in my Skamper, throw it in my F-150 and we just take that.

If we were to camp, would ye prefer to camp onsite or offsite?

I guess it doesn't matter to me.

I'm gonna look over more of the event info and I'll get back to you.

Did you happen to see what benefits come with the VIP pass?

I know I would like to do the rally portion... would certainly help me get a feel for the nav stuff.

I know I wasn’t interested in the VIP pass. It looks like more stuff we get but also more stuff at night. The rally is definitely on my list to do. With Oliver with, the night stuff won’t be appealing.

It's 5 hours away. Not bad. If I go I'm definitely gonna do the Rally. I'll have to see about this 1. The Mark Twain National Forest is up there. I've heard it's got some great overlanding spots. I may want to go a couple days early to explore.
