Monster Mazda B4000

I was thinking about making you an offer, but there's no way I'd be able to drive down to pick it up, only getting about 12 miles to the gallon right now with the truck I'd be picking it up with.

Plus summers almost over, I don't have time for a cab swap project on our '79 right now.

Yea im asking 250$ right now locally for it. Hate to scrap it but I do not have the room for it or need. I hate scraping older vehicles..

I found a product made by Ruff Stuff that is an outrigger for perches and will work perfectly.

Been researching some antiwrap bars.

Looks pretty simple to do, the only question I have is it seems like some people make the joints at the cross member and shackle with just regular poly bushings and not a johnny or heim. Wouldnt that cause crazy amounts of bind? and if the bar was on the pass side if the pass side tire was raised the axle would try to turn pushing the passenger side forward, and opposite for a raise the drivers side instead with just a johnny or heim the axle would move in the same vertical plane and twist.

Dugan, I like the idea of the build. Sorry I have no input on it. But... anyone up to 4wheel on saturday, earlier in the morning, say 10 or so to 3 or 4.

I can PM you my #. I'm not on facebook and have absolutely no desire to be, or I'd message up on the swampass page.

EDIT: should really PM you... this thread is a bit old. PM sent in a minute after I edit this.

Still havent cut into the beast yet on accounts of my buddy being a poor bastard and his GF being all up in his face about money... he needs a job..

Been looking at the frame and the design I came up with is to cut a good chunk of frame from the middle and attach the two ends keeping the spring perch placements. This will still allow for the rear frame hump for the rear axle and prevent problems mounting the fuel tank etc...

Started the Project today was bored.

Had a bunch of friends around so it was perfect time to start.

Did a little more work on the frame yesterday in the RAIN...

We cut around the 8 studs through the bed, and tried to lift it off, not realizing there is two layers of bed that the bolt holds on to....:annoyed:

301462_10151076040470967_47353459_n.jpg

Started cutting cross patterns in the bolt heads and using a hammer and pry bar to split them. Couldnt really grind them off well and had no oxygen for torch..
And yes my brother does all automotive work in sandals...who knows

Got the bed off easy after that

I love my engine hoist <3

Instead of cutting the front frame we are gonna cut out the boxed portion of the frame and re-weld in new material.

Removed the gas tank last night and removed the body mounts off the frame a long with the old brake and fuel lines and other misc. stuff. Getting steel something this weekend or next week and we will start mocking up the lift.

The front will be a 4x4 1/4 wall square tube welded under the frame with two peices welded under it used to attach the stock mount to.

Rear of the front will be an adjustable shackle.

Front of the rear spring will be an out rigged perch possibly dropped down the frame.

and the rear of the rear leaf will be a shackle flip dropped a few inches with a shackle.

We are not going for huge lift, more for the ability of clearing the 44s with no issue and having room for flex. The bottom of the body will most likely be 2-3 inches above the top of the tires or slightly more.

Going to take a look at some 44x18.5x16.5 tsls and boggers for cheap that might be resiped.

Got a set of 44x18.5x16.5 tsls and 44x19.5x16.5 boggers for 350$ not bad i dont think.

Picked up some rims from a local for 60$ because he thought they were 4x 16.5x10. Ended up having 2 10 wide and 2 8 wide. I got em for 60$ instead of 100 then. I was skeptical about the 8s but they actually will be perfect for the TSLs and have a more offset toward the axle so rubbing leafs wont be as much as a problem.

Rims are just finger tight on the axle. I discovered the dually d60 has the extended hubs along with a dowel pin on the hub. Im either gonna drill it out or cut it flush because I tried to heat it up and push through or twist and it wasnt having it.

Also took the acetelne torch to a few hiding spots on the axle and you shoulda seen the tenants this axle had.. Holy huge spiders....

Opened up the drivers hub to discover it was perfect!! Fresh grease and no rust anywhere. Packed the outer bearing and put it all back together.

Also opened up the cover. First fluid to drain out was water...:annoyed: was so mad! But after opening the cover more gear fluid started to come out. So once opened there was light surface rust on a few things not gears tho. Its 4.10 ratio. If we get this Corp FF 14bolt with 5.13s lockers latter bars springs shocks and a driveshaft loop with aluminum cover ill be putting thick 5.13s in the front also.

I tried reading up on the dowel on the DRW hub. No where is there mention of it. I guess drilling it out is fine.

You talking about the locator pin on the face of the hub?

Grind it off.

Its a roll pin. Goodluck drilling hardened steel. Just cut it off and grind it flush.

Yea thats what I thought. I was able to mushroom the head of it after heat though :D

Had to get the frame off the trailer for right now, used my buddy "poncho" as a counter balance for when I lift the frame

We picked up a FF 14 bolt with disc brakes, 4.56, and a locker, 4 link setup, and ladder bars, with SS brake lines. For very cheap! He said it was 5.13... and it wasnt and had a knick out of the pinion tooth.. So I was able to get it for a lot less
