Mods to much??

Little things like that wont do any harm at all. But I have a wierd thing about driveshafts. I dont like stock shafts. It's not that I break them, I just hate driving in fear. Hell, My street truck has a F-150 shaft in it.

fear of what? its not like a bigger shaft wont go out of balance if you whack it on a rock for those of us that wheel, or that your going to break a stock driveshaft with a stock motor..... my brother had a 90 dakota that we would bounce off the rev limiter, hold the brakes and side step the clutch DAILY for a YEAR. i believe it had a chrysler 8.25, the c-clip(s) spun off (or so we think) and caused a train wreck of issues. the rear u-joints never saw a grease gun nor did they get replaced. if you have a motor strong enough to snap a driveshaft or the yokes while doing a burnout, the driveshaft is the least of your worries.

I dont really know what I fear, I just have some sort of "tick" about them. I like to know that my rig is built beyond what is necessary, not "close" to enough I guess.

As with anything if its close to stock it will hold up fine. Once you cross the boundary's then you have to pay to play.

my friend was in a 88 5.0 mustang doing 80 and the back yoke on driveshaft broke on him

well you said you had 38's right? sell the 38's find out what axle ratios you have. get the tire size that works best with that ratio. fix your fuel issue then save cash to wheel. also scout craigslist for deals, i mean hell, i got 1.5inch coils and 1.5inch ranger/exploder leafs for free off there. now my DD has a small lift and fender trimming to fit 31's
