Hey guys,

Looking to invest into a decent front suspension set up as well as a rear set up in the next few months. I dont want some extreme kit, but I dont want something that will break from mild off-road use. Im also trying to save the bed of my truck so I can still haul my dirtbike around. any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks! :icon_thumby:

yea im interested to i want to spend under 2000 and have it hold up to some jumping

Ehh, ball park probably around 2 grand, like remington115.

Like I said im not looking for anything really crazy. For what I'd use it for, around 15 inches of travel up front would be generous. Im not too sure what would be better in my case as far as extended beams, coilovers or coil buckets. I would like to run some decent sized tires, 31' to 33's, so I know fiberglass fenders would be necessary.

There are two recommendations that I would give you because I would also fall into the "exploratory" stage of off roading. I have a single short bed truck and installed a skyjacker 6" lift kit. I would highly recommend this kit to you. If you buy the kit from here and get all the necessary parts the setup will run you about $2,000. This works great whether you have four or two wheel drive. I have been able to get air with my truck going much faster than I ever should have. I think that you would be very happy with this and you will be able to install this kit with a bit of effort and some basic tools/skills. The other option available is to cut and turn your I beams and that is something that is only recommended to someone with experience.

After all of my efforts I think that the 6" skyjacker kit would be well worth your time. I would also look into the kit by James Duff. Both of these lift kits have links in the technical library. Good luck. :icon_thumby:

I have been in the market also and the best two i have found are autofab.com and dave@threat he is a member on here and makes quality stuff. To me camburg is a bit pricey for what all you get compaired to dave@threat. I couldnt get dave's kit because i got caught off roading and the property was aparently "private" lol and well the suspension money went away due to fines... damnit

im sorry but when i read that i busted out laughing, that same thing happened to me once when i was 16 years old, me and a buddy were playing around on some trails in my jeep near this lake at night and we got to the end of the trail and it literally just dead ended so because i knew we were close to a road i turned the lights off to see if we could spot any cars passing by or street lights so i knew the general direction to point the jeep and could save the time of traveling all the way back down the trail, anyhow we couldnt see a thing so i turned the lights back on, turned the jeep around and went back through the trail to the other end where we entered. the closer we got to the end of the trail we started seeing all sorts of lights so we sped up alittle to see what it was, well we get to the entry point of the trail and there was about 5 or 6 cop cars lined up next to the street so we thought to ourselfs i wonder what in the world is going on that they have so many cops out here. well it wasnt but about 4 seconds later we found out they were there for us because it was private property, they said they got a complaint that someone was trespassing and when the first cop came out to investigate the vehicle attempted to "elude" them by going down the trail, i almost died laughing cause we never seen the first cop and if we did theres no i would have tried to "elude" them in a 1979 cj5 haha! so anyhow the first cop calls for backup cause he is thinkin im eluding him while me and my buddy are just cruisin down this trail havin a good time. so when they questioned me they asked if i wasnt trying to get away from them then why did i keep going down the trail and why did i turn my lights off. i said i kept going down the trail because i didnt know it was private property and i damn sure didnt know the cops were after me, i then said i turned my lights off to try and see where the road was so i didnt have to follow that long trail all the way back to the road. they looked at me like i was the biggest liar there ever was. i couldnt believe it. anyways to make a super long story short i got arrested, my buddy was taken to jail but released with no charges when his parents showed up, my jeep got towed and impounded, i ended up on probation after going to court because of the trespassing on private property, i cant even remember how much all the total fees and fines were for the bondsman to get out of jail, the tow yard for the tow and impound fee, all the probation fees, etc. the thing that killed me though was i had to pay a "restitution" fee to the owner in the amount of 200-300 bucks, i cant remember, for what they said was going to go towards grass seed. o man did i ever get hosed. i have never ever ever even had the thought about wheelin on property of which i didnt know who it belonged to ever since! still to this day its on my record for criminal trespass when all i was doing was playing around in my jeep
