Also if you want to see a quick preview of the video we did (We took about 50 video's of the thermite and of driving the the taurus over/through/into stuff check out the quick teaser I posted on youtube, I am going to work to make a nice composite video of the field car and the thermite with music in the background for this years but I just got home and don't have the time before I go to bed.

Can't wait to see the video. Where to you get magnesium strips anyway? Slice up one of those fire starter sticks or something?

Magnesium strips for the thermite are overrated, we used those the first year and they were hard to light, went out half the time, etc.

We just buy cheap sparklers from walmart, work every time and are really cheap.

Yeah, sparklers are MUCH more reliable.

Def. was a good weekend....Kinda sucked to go back to work last night!

Careful with that thermite. That is what we used in the military in the form of a flash bang to destroy our tanks when they are neutralized, it keeps the enemy from using our technology against us. When the chemical reaction starts, it is IrReversible!! and will burn through anything, does not care what it is, 1/2" plate steel is useless to hold it, will burn through with no problem. If you do not know where to get magnesium strips from, then good, I will not tell you either, and if you have not figured out the other "Fuses" that will ignite Thermite, that it is good also. Really hate to see you get hurt or one of your friends.

Stick with the sparklers, just don't put a BIG group together and light at once, you will not like the results :icon_confused:

I only went to Basic Training though, what do i know..........

Sounds like you have some interesting stories that your not shareing.........

The thermite stuff isn't new for us, we have done it several times, we try and keep things as safe as we can working with something like that. If you want to see the video I put together from last year take a look at the link below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LlJ-KJ22qs

I watch so many video's on youtube of people doing thermite and they light it and you see them walking around within a foot or two of it looking in to see if it is going or not, I keep thinking I would hate to see what they would do if they actually got the mixture right some time. Our stuff we like to be at least 30 feet away when it goes off and when we are trying something new with it we stay behind barriers to where we don't even see it go. Thermite is very dangerous, but we have alot of fun with it as well.
